FAQs

PVD gold is a type of coating that is applied to jewelry using the PVD process of vacuum technology to deposit a thin layer of gold-colored material onto its surface.

Unlike traditional gold plating methods, PVD gold coating is more durable and resistant to wear, making it a popular option for those looking for long-lasting and low-maintenance gold-colored jewelry.

Discover the benefits of PVD coating for your jewelry: increased durability, thickness, corrosion-resistance, versatility, sustainability, easy maintenance, and hypoallergenic properties. Protect your jewelry from wear and tear, enhance its durability, and customize its color with PVD plating. Unlike traditional plating, PVD coating is sweat and water-resistant, making it suitable for everyday wear. Plus, it's eco-friendly and requires minimal maintenance. Make a stylish statement without compromising on quality or sustainability.

Please keep in mind you do NOT need to purchase a set of posts for every push pin you buy.  Once you have a set of posts (flat backs) for the piercings you'll be wearing them in, you will only need to buy the "push pin tops". Making buying flatbacks so much more affordable when only buying the pieces you need.  We all love a way to save money.  For example, If you already have posts for lobes or cartilage piercings that are for threadless jewelry, you will only need tops.  Having an extra set on hand is nice in case you lose any but keep in mind this is a nice way to shop for just the pieces you will need and not need to buy the "entire" flat back earring if it isn't needed.

How to insert your flat back earring...The flat back post is always inserted through the back of the piercing first.  Once you get the post through your lobe, nose, or cartilage then you will slide the push pin top into the labret's opening.  You should hear a scratch and a pop or click letting you know it is in secure.

*note* Never straighten the bend on the push pin top.  Those are there for security reasons.  If the pin starts to straighten with time...add that bend in it again.  Check the diagram below on how to do that.

Guage info...

16g is the thickest metal (most commonly used for hollow needle piercings in cartilage. Conch, helix, midi, flat, tragus)

18g medium  (hollow needle piercings in the lobes)

20g thin  (piercings done with a gun, or piercings that havent had jewelry worn in often, I recommend this guage)

Post Length info...

8mm (long)

7mm or 6mm shorter

The length of your post is dependent on your anatomy and if your piercing is still swollen or not.

Recommendations for thicker or swollen cartilage are 7mm to 8mm

6mm is for healed piercings.

Implant-grade titanium is what professional piercers recommend for initial piercings and great for continued wear on healed piercings...

Here’s why:

  • It’s nickel-free. Nickel is the most common contact allergen in the world, according to the European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation. It’s regularly found in jewelry for piercings. Titanium doesn’t contain any nickel, which makes it safe for people with sensitive skin or a nickel allergy.
  • It has a high strength-to-density ratio. In other words, titanium is considerably less dense than stainless steel and other metals, but just as strong (if not more so). This makes it durable and less likely to bend or break.
  • It’s lightweight. That low density we just talked about is what makes titanium jewelry lighter than those made with other metals.
  • It can be anodized. Titanium’s dark metallic color is cool as is. But unlike other stainless steel, you can get titanium in other colors. This is done through anodizing, an electrochemical process that changes the surface color while maintaining safety.

By implant-grade, we’re talking titanium that’s been certified for medical use and meets the standards for quality and safety set out by the American (now International) Society for Testing and Materials Standard (ASTM) or the International Standards Organization (ISO).

Look for jewelry made from titanium with these compliance designations:

  • ASTM F-136
  • ISO 5832-3
  • ASTM F-67

14k solid gold is real gold, and can legally be marked and sold as such.  Any gold that’s 10k or higher is considered “solid gold.”  14kt gold is rich in value, but a softer material so please handle your 14kt pieces delicately.

Below are approximate healing times for healthy piercings on most people. Keep in mind that your piercing may heal more quickly or take even longer. Continue suggested aftercare for at least the amount of time listed in my aftercare section.

At the end of the healing time, twice- daily cleaning is no longer required, although once-a-day cleaning is still suggested. When your piercing is healed, jewelry can safely be changed but it shouldn’t be left out for longer than it takes to switch jewelry. Even once the hole becomes permanent it can still shrink and make jewelry reinsertion more difficult. If you like your piercing, keep jewelry in it.

Ear & Nose Piercings

Ear lobes 6-12 weeks

Ear Cartilage 6 months-1 year

Nostril 4-6 months
