How to insert a flat back earring

The flat back post is always inserted through the back of the piercing first.

Once the post is through your lobe, nose, or cartilage, slide the push-pin top into the labret opening. You should feel/hear a scratch and a soft click when it’s secure.

Important: Never straighten the bend on the push-pin top — those bends are there for security. If the pin starts to straighten over time, gently re-add the bend.

All our earrings come with 6mm posts. If you need a different size, be sure to add it to the order notes on checkout.

  • 8mm — Longer option
  • 7mm or 6mm — Shorter options

Post length depends on your anatomy and whether the piercing is still swollen.

  • 7–8mm recommended for thicker or swollen cartilage
  • 6mm ideal for fully healed piercings
